Huawei has quietly expanded its open-ear audio offerings in Europe with the release of the FreeClip 2 S. This model feels more like a thoughtful upgrade than a complete redesign.
Initially unveiled in China as the FreeClip 2 Collector’s Edition, this version includes a few notable design changes that push it beyond mere audio and into the realm of lifestyle products.

A redesigned case that changes the experience
The biggest talking point here is the charging case. Huawei has moved away from the familiar compact, AirPods-style shape and replaced it with something larger and more rounded—almost spherical in appearance. It’s not just for aesthetics either.
The company says the new case offers roughly 20 percent more space, and interestingly, that extra room isn’t only meant for the earbuds.

Huawei is clearly encouraging users to treat it as a small carry case for items like rings or earrings.
It’s an unusual idea, but one that adds a bit of personality in a market where most earbuds cases feel identical.
More comfort, cleaner design
The earbuds themselves haven’t been dramatically redesigned, but the changes that are here feel deliberate.
The signature C-bridge, which wraps around the ear, is now softer—Huawei claims by about 25 percent. In everyday use, that should translate to less pressure during long listening sessions.
There’s also a noticeable visual upgrade. The grooves from the previous generation are gone, replaced by a smoother, more uniform finish.
Combined with the new metallic coating, the FreeClip 2 S looks more polished and closer to a fashion accessory than a typical piece of audio gear. The color options—Metallic Blue and Silver—reinforce that direction.
Familiar audio, unchanged core features
Under the hood, Huawei hasn’t made changes to the audio setup, sticking with the same 10.8mm dual-diaphragm drivers found in the FreeClip 2.
That means the listening experience is expected to remain consistent, with a focus on clarity and balance rather than heavy bass or isolation.

Features like adaptive volume and voice enhancement are still here, along with a three-microphone system designed to improve call quality in noisy environments.
As with most open-ear designs, the goal isn’t to block out the world but to let you stay aware of your surroundings while listening.
Smart usability still stands out
One of the more practical features returns unchanged—the earbuds don’t require a fixed left or right orientation.
They automatically detect how they’re worn and adjust the audio channels accordingly, which makes daily use feel a bit more effortless.
Huawei also continues to offer a mix of gesture controls, including touch input and head movement controls.
It’s the kind of feature set that you don’t always notice immediately, but it becomes useful over time.
Battery life and connectivity remain solid
On the technical side, the FreeClip 2 S keeps up with current expectations. It uses Bluetooth 6.0 and supports multipoint connectivity, so switching between devices should be smooth.
Battery life is rated at up to nine hours on a single charge, with the case extending that to around 38 hours in total. Fast charging is supported, which helps when you’re in a hurry.
The earbuds also carry an IP57 rating, offering a decent level of protection against dust and water, making them suitable for workouts or daily outdoor use.
Pricing and availability
The FreeClip 2 S is available now across Europe with a standard price of €229. For a limited time, Huawei is offering it at €199 until August 21, 2026.
There’s also a bundle option at the full price that includes a piece of jewelry from French brand Les Néréides, tying back to the product’s more style-oriented positioning.
