Nothing has introduced a new addition to its audio lineup, but this time it’s not your typical wireless earbuds. The London-based company has entered the open-ear earbuds market with its latest release, the Nothing Ear (Open).
These earbuds compete with other similar products like the Sony Linkbuds, Bose Ultra Open, and Huawei FreeClip. This is the third audio product from Nothing this year, following the release of the Ear and Ear (a) earlier in 2024.
Nothing Ear (Open) Design and Features
As the name suggests, the Nothing Ear (Open) features an open-ear design, which means they don’t fully cover the ear canal. This allows you to stay aware of your surroundings while listening to audio.
The earbuds have a unique curved headband that wraps around the outer part of your ear, providing a secure and comfortable fit. In line with Nothing’s signature style, the stems of the earbuds are transparent, and there are no silicone ear tips.
The earbuds come in a pill-shaped, transparent case that is slim yet wider than typical cases. They are also rated IP54, making them resistant to dust and water splashes.
Audio Performance
For sound, the Nothing Ear (Open) is equipped with 14.2mm titanium-coated drivers, delivering high-quality audio with enhanced bass thanks to a ‘Bass Enhance’ algorithm.
The earbuds feature two microphones and AI-powered Clear Voice 3.0 technology for clear call quality.
A Sound Seal System and directional speakers help keep audio private by preventing sound leakage, though these earbuds don’t offer active noise cancellation.
There’s also a low latency mode, making them a great option for gaming or streaming.
Battery and Connectivity
On a full charge, the Nothing Ear (Open) can last up to 8 hours, and with the 635mAh charging case, battery life extends up to 30 hours.
The earbuds support Bluetooth 5.3 and can connect to two devices at the same time.
Additionally, they offer integration with ChatGPT, providing quick and easy access to the AI chatbot.
Other features include pinch controls for easy operation, a “find my earbuds” function, fast pairing, and more.
