EarFun used CES 2026 to introduce the Clip 2, a new pair of ear-clip earbuds that aim to push open-ear audio beyond casual listening.
With Hi-Res Audio support, Bluetooth 6.0, and built-in AI language translation, the company is clearly targeting users who want convenience and smart features without giving up sound quality or situational awareness.

Open-ear design with a focus on comfort
The EarFun Clip 2 takes a different approach from traditional in-ear or stem-style earbuds. Instead of sealing the ear canal, the earbuds clip onto the outer ear, leaving it open to ambient sounds.
This design is becoming increasingly popular among commuters, runners, and office users who want to stay aware of their surroundings while listening to music or taking calls.
Despite the open-ear form factor, EarFun says it has spent considerable effort tuning the sound. Each earbud features a 12 mm dual-magnetic titanium driver, a size more commonly found in larger in-ear models.
The result, according to the company, is stronger bass response and better clarity than typical open-ear solutions, which often struggle to deliver fullness and detail.
Hi-Res Audio and immersive sound
One of the headline features of the Clip 2 is support for Sony’s LDAC codec, enabling Hi-Res Audio playback over Bluetooth.
This allows compatible devices to stream music at higher bitrates than standard Bluetooth codecs, preserving more detail in supported tracks.
EarFun is positioning the Clip 2 as a rare example of an open-ear earbud that doesn’t compromise on audio quality.
In addition to LDAC, the earbuds include a 3D surround sound mode designed to create a wider, more spatial listening experience.
While surround sound features on earbuds can be hit or miss, it adds another layer of appeal for users watching movies, gaming, or listening to live recordings.
AI language translation built in
Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the EarFun Clip 2 is its AI-powered real-time language translation.
Through the EarFun companion app, users can assign translation to a tap or double-tap gesture on the earbuds.
Once activated, the system can translate conversations in over 100 languages, playing the translated speech directly into the user’s ears.
EarFun says the translation happens in near real time and is designed to be practical for travel, meetings, or casual conversations.
The company also emphasizes privacy, stating that cloud data usage is kept to a minimum and only essential audio is processed to enable translations.
Modern connectivity and smart features
On the connectivity side, the Clip 2 is built around Bluetooth 6.0, offering more stable connections and lower latency than previous generations.
The earbuds support LE Audio for reduced delay, making them better suited for video playback and gaming.
Google Fast Pair is also included, allowing Android users to connect quickly without digging through Bluetooth menus.
Multipoint connectivity is another welcome addition, enabling the Clip 2 to stay connected to two devices at the same time.
Calls, durability, and battery life
For calls, EarFun has equipped the Clip 2 with a quad-microphone ENC (environmental noise cancellation) system.
The earbuds are rated IP55 for dust and water resistance, meaning they can handle sweat, rain, and everyday outdoor use without issue.
Battery life is solid for an open-ear design. With LDAC enabled, the Clip 2 offers up to six hours of playback, extending to 22 hours with the charging case.
Turning LDAC off significantly boosts endurance, with up to 11 hours on the earbuds and a total of 40 hours when using the case.
The earbuds fully recharge in about one hour inside the case, while the case itself charges in roughly two hours via USB-C using a standard 5V/1A adapter.
Size and positioning
The complete package weighs 49.6 grams and measures 70 × 48.1 × 29.2 mm, keeping the design compact and easy to carry.
With its combination of open-ear comfort, high-resolution audio, and AI translation, the EarFun Clip 2 is clearly aimed at users who want more than basic wireless earbuds.
