ROG Cetra Open Wireless Gaming Earbuds arrive with RGB lighting

Asus, the gaming hardware giant, has kicked off the global launch of its latest wireless earbuds, the ROG Cetra Open Wireless, making their way to markets like the United States and Europe.

This new model is making waves in the expanding open-ear audio scene by blending gaming-centric features such as RGB lighting and low-latency wireless connectivity.

These earbuds were initially unveiled earlier this year at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, and now they’re officially up for grabs worldwide.

Gaming design meets open-ear comfort

Unlike traditional in-ear earbuds, the ROG Cetra Open Wireless uses an open-ear design that sits outside the ear canal. This approach is intended to provide a more comfortable listening experience while still allowing users to stay aware of their surroundings.

Staying true to the Republic of Gamers aesthetic, Asus has added customizable Aura RGB lighting. The earbuds support four preset lighting effects and allow users to choose from up to 16.8 million colours, giving them a distinctly gaming-inspired look rarely seen in open-ear audio devices.

The earbuds are currently available in a single black colour option.

Low-latency wireless for gaming

One feature that separates the ROG Cetra Open Wireless from many open-ear competitors is support for 2.4 GHz wireless audio. This technology helps reduce latency, making the earbuds suitable for gaming and media where audio delay can be noticeable.

With 2.4 GHz connectivity, the earbuds can work with devices such as the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. At launch, however, mobile devices connect using Bluetooth 6.0 on Android and iOS.

Asus says support for 2.4 GHz audio on Android will arrive later through a software update.

Key features and specifications

The earbuds include 14 mm drivers with a 16-ohm impedance and a frequency response ranging from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. Asus also provides sound customization through EQ controls in its Gear Link companion app.

Other notable features include:

  • IPX5 water resistance for protection against sweat and light rain
  • A detachable reflective neck strap designed for runners
  • Multiple sound modes including Phantom Bass and Immersion Mode

Battery life is rated at up to 16 hours, although this figure is achieved with RGB lighting, microphone use, and enhanced audio modes turned off.

Price and availability

Asus is selling the ROG Cetra Open Wireless in several regions at the following prices:

  • $229.99 in the United States
  • €219 across the Eurozone
  • £184.99 in the United Kingdom

With its blend of open-ear comfort, gaming aesthetics and low-latency connectivity, the ROG Cetra Open Wireless aims to carve out a niche among gamers and active users who want something different from traditional wireless earbuds.
