Redmi Buds 8 Pro Gets Surprise Early Release

Looks like Xiaomi has gotten a bit ahead of themselves with their latest audio release.

They’ve officially announced that the Redmi Buds 8 Pro will hit the international market on February 28, but these new wireless earbuds are already up for grabs in several Southeast Asian and European markets, and they’re even offering some launch discounts.

This early availability comes just a few days after Xiaomi added the Redmi Buds 8 Pro to their global website, suggesting that a wider release was on the horizon.

But instead of waiting for the official launch date, retailers — and Xiaomi themselves — have jumped the gun and started selling the earbuds early.

Already Available in Southeast Asia

In a move that caught many by surprise, Xiaomi has started offering the Redmi Buds 8 Pro directly through its official channels in both Malaysia and Thailand.

In Thailand, the earbuds carry a suggested retail price of THB 2,990 (around $97), but are currently listed at a discounted THB 2,190 (roughly $71) as part of an early launch promotion. Malaysia is seeing a similar strategy. There, the Redmi Buds 8 Pro are priced at MYR 299 (~$77), with a reduced launch price of MYR 269 (~$69).

The aggressive pricing positions the new model competitively within the mid-range true wireless segment, particularly given the “Pro” branding and Xiaomi’s track record of packing premium-style features into affordable hardware.

European Retailers Join In

The early availability isn’t limited to Asia. In Europe, major German electronics retailers MediaMarkt and Saturn have also begun selling the Redmi Buds 8 Pro.

Interestingly, instead of listing the earbuds prominently on their main storefronts, both retailers have opted to sell them via their eBay outlets. The pricing is consistent across both sellers: €69.99 (approximately $83), taxes included.

That figure undercuts many established competitors in the same price bracket and also signals that Xiaomi is aiming to keep the Redmi Buds 8 Pro accessible, despite replacing the older Redmi Buds 6 Pro in several markets.

Replacing the Redmi Buds 6 Pro

The new model effectively steps into the shoes of the Redmi Buds 6 Pro, which had been widely available across Europe and Southeast Asia. With retailers already swapping listings and inventory, the transition appears to be happening quietly but decisively.

This suggests Xiaomi is streamlining its audio lineup rather than running both generations in parallel — at least in the regions where the Buds 8 Pro are now appearing.

Colors and Global Positioning

According to Xiaomi’s official materials, the Redmi Buds 8 Pro will be available globally in three finishes: Cloud White, Glacier Blue, and Obsidian Black. The color selection mirrors Xiaomi’s typical strategy of offering both conservative and slightly more expressive options.
