Bottomline

The TOZO NC20 Pro stands out with a surprisingly practical built-in screen, solid ANC, and reliable battery life. From time to time, a set of earbuds appears that doesn’t just tack on another feature but changes how we use them. When I opened the box of the TOZO NC20 Pro, I didn’t expect much—another small case, another familiar shape. But as I opened the lid, the small screen came to life with a lock screen showing the time, battery level, and connection details. At that point, I knew these earbuds were quite unique.

This is TOZO’s latest try to create earbuds that depend less on your phone and more on the device itself. After using them for a week, I can say with certainty: the NC20 Pro does something most wireless earbuds have failed to do—it makes the case useful.

A Case That’s More Than Storage

The NC20 Pro arrives in a simple, compact package: the earbuds, USB-A to USB-C cable, a user manual, and five pairs of silicone ear tips. The charging case itself is pebble-shaped with a flat base, a sturdy hinge, and a surprisingly premium feel for its price. Mine came in the Titanium Black finish, though TOZO offers additional colors if you prefer something lighter.

What stands out, of course, is the LCD touchscreen. Unlike the previous NC20, which used a basic LED display, this screen allows full interaction:

  • switching tracks
  • adjusting volume
  • toggling noise-cancelling modes
  • selecting EQ profiles
  • enabling spatial audio
  • locating your earbuds

It’s rare—almost unheard of—to see earbuds hand off this many controls directly to the case. And this isn’t a gimmick; it’s genuinely useful. Instead of tapping tiny stems mid-walk or digging through a phone app, I found myself swiping and tapping the case screen far more comfortably.

You can even customize the wallpaper from the TOZO app—or fully power the display down to save battery using the side button.

Comfort and Build

Despite all the built-in tech, the earbuds remain impressively lightweight at just over 5 grams each. Paired with the right ear tips, they sit securely without digging into the ear canal. I used them during a gym session and they didn’t budge.

TOZO also coats the earbuds with its “HydroGuard” nano-layer, giving them IPX8 waterproofing—a rating rarely seen outside premium sports earbuds. You can sweat heavily or get caught in the rain without worry.

A Feature-Packed App — And Optional Too

If you dive into the TOZO app, you’ll find one of the most loaded software suites in the earbud category:

  • 32 EQ presets
  • Advanced EQ editor
  • Community EQ sharing zone
  • Hearing test–based “Ear Tune” curve
  • Library of white noise and sleep sounds
  • AI tools: voice recorder, translation, chat
  • Six ANC modes including adaptive and wind-reduction
  • LDAC support for high-resolution audio
  • Low-latency gaming mode
  • Multipoint pairing (Bluetooth 5.4)
TOZO NC20 Pro App

It’s a long feature list—almost too long for something in this price tier.
The surprising part? You don’t have to use the app at all. Nearly every essential function is accessible right on the case display.

And yes, the “Find My Earbuds” feature is loud—very loud. Definitely don’t trigger it while they’re in your ears.

Noise Cancelling: Surprisingly Capable

TOZO advertises up to 45 dB of noise reduction, and while marketing numbers rarely tell the full story, the performance is genuinely strong.

Deep ANC mode is best for trains, engines, AC units, and general low-to-mid-frequency hum. If you don’t like the ear pressure that comes with strong cancellation, the Leisure Mode reduces noise more gently and remains comfortable for long stretches.

The transparency mode is natural enough for conversations without removing the buds, and the wind-noise mitigation actually works—something many budget earbuds struggle with.

Sound Quality: Not Neutral, but Definitely Fun

The NC20 Pro doesn’t try to please every audiophile. Instead, it adopts a bold, energetic signature built around:

  • punchy, impactful low-end
  • bright, crisp treble
  • a V-shaped profile that pushes excitement over neutrality

During electronic, rock, or hip-hop testing, the sub-bass hits felt deep and controlled. Drum kicks and bass lines had real weight without muddying the midrange. Movie scenes (and gaming sessions) felt cinematic, especially with spatial audio enabled.

Vocals remain reasonably clear, though the tuning definitely favors modern genres more than acoustic or classical tracks. With LDAC enabled, details sharpen up noticeably, offering a more refined top-end and better layering.

It’s not trying to be an all-rounder. It’s trying to be engaging, and it succeeds.

Call Quality and Microphones

The NC20 Pro includes six microphones, four dedicated to ANC and two for voice pickup. With TOZO’s noise-reduction algorithm active, voices stay surprisingly intelligible even against traffic noise or wind.

I tested a call outdoors, and even with wind blowing across both ears, the clarity held up better than expected for earbuds in this price segment.

Battery Life: Much Better Than Expected

When I heard the case had a full display, I assumed battery life would take a hit. Turns out, I was completely wrong.

  • Up to 63 hours with ANC on
  • Up to 80 hours with ANC off
  • 10 minutes charge → 5 hours playback

For perspective, that dwarfs even the AirPods Pro 3’s 24-hour rating—and those don’t have a display.

Verdict: Not Perfect, but Brilliant at What Matters

The TOZO NC20 Pro isn’t going to win over fans of neutral reference tuning. It doesn’t aim for studio accuracy or understated design. Instead, it focuses on two things and nails both:

  1. A powerful, lively sound ideal for modern music, movies, and gaming.
  2. A touchscreen case that actually improves how you interact with earbuds.

Its strengths are bold, and its weaknesses—mainly its aggressive tuning—won’t suit everyone. But at this price, with this feature set, TOZO is clearly overdelivering.

If you want earbuds that are fun, packed with smart functionality, and refreshingly independent from your phone, the NC20 Pro are absolutely worth considering.
