It’s been nearly six years since the original Powerbeats Pro hit the market, and after plenty of speculation and leaks, Beats by Dre has finally made the sequel official.
The Powerbeats Pro 2 brings a host of upgrades, including heart-rate tracking, active noise cancellation, and a more compact design, all while keeping the familiar ear-hook style that made the original a fitness favorite.
A Modernized Design with Improved Comfort
While the ear hooks remain, they’ve been refined with a nickel-titanium alloy, making them lighter, thinner, and more flexible. This results in a 20% weight reduction, ensuring a more comfortable and secure fit during workouts.
The charging case has also been completely redesigned. It’s 33% smaller, more pocket-friendly, and now supports wireless charging—a long-requested feature from Powerbeats users.
Apple has also ditched the Lightning port in favor of USB-C, aligning with its recent push toward universal charging standards. However, there’s no charging cable included in the box.
New Health and Audio Features
For the first time, Powerbeats Pro 2 features a built-in heart rate sensor. This lets users track their heart rate in real time during workouts. iPhone users can view their stats directly in iOS settings, while Android users will need the Beats app to access heart rate data.
The audio experience has also received a major boost. A custom dual-layer driver reduces distortion and delivers richer sound, while active noise cancellation (ANC) helps block out distractions. There’s also a Transparency Mode, which lets in ambient sounds when you need to stay aware of your surroundings.
Powered by Apple’s H2 chip, the same one found in the AirPods Pro 2, the Powerbeats Pro 2 supports Adaptive EQ, automatically adjusting sound based on how the earbuds fit in your ears.
Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking is also onboard, creating a more immersive listening experience, especially when watching Dolby Atmos content or using an Apple Vision Pro, where the earbuds deliver ultra-low latency lossless audio.
Battery Life and Call Quality
With ANC turned off, the Powerbeats Pro 2 delivers 10 hours of listening time per charge (or 8 hours with ANC on). With the case, total battery life extends to 45 hours (36 hours with ANC), a solid improvement over the original.
Call quality has also been upgraded, thanks to a voice accelerometer and three microphones per earbud.
These features help reduce background noise and enhance voice clarity on calls. The earbuds also retain physical buttons for playback control, volume adjustment, and switching listening modes—something many users still prefer over touch controls.

Beats is offering the Powerbeats Pro 2 in four bold colors: Jet Black, Quick Sand, Hyper Purple, and Electric Orange.
The earbuds are available now for $249.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, and the Beats by Dre online store. Each purchase includes five pairs of silicone ear tips for a customizable fit, along with a wireless charging case.
